Update 4/23/20 - Statement to the Round Valley Community

This afternoon (April 23, 2020) three Round Valley residents tested positive for COVID-19. This testing was performed at Round Valley Indian Health Center. Per protocol Mendocino County Public Health has been notified and will work together with our community to ensure steps are taken to keep our community as safe as possible.                                 

Please understand that those who test positive have a right to remain anonymous and have their privacy respected. 

If you have concerns about exposure or have COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue please contact the clinic Triage Nurse at 983-6181 ext. 142. 

Please do not arrive at the Clinic without calling first.

“The Round Valley Indian Tribal Council has taken this pandemic seriously from the beginning. On March 18^th the Tribal Council declared a State of Emergency for all of our programs and community. It was made for the safety and health of all of our community members. I hope and pray to our Creator that all of our people will be safe and we will get through this by His grace and guidance”.

We highly encourage people to stay home unless you need to do essential travel for things like food, medicine, or other necessary items. This is consistent with the public health orders that have been coming down over the past couple months.

Every person has a role to play to lessen the spread of this virus and to help prevent exposure to others. Much of protecting yourself and your family comes down to simple measures: 

• Wash hands with soap and water.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. If surfaces are dirty, clean them using detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
• Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick. 
• Stay away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
• Follow guidance from public health officials:  shelter in place, wear masks in public, social distance 6 ft minimum distance between people.

Update 4/20/20 - SYMPTOM SCREENING & MASKING ORDER

ALL EMPLOYEES and CLIENTS

Our facility will continue to follow guidance and orders from Mendocino Public Health and Center for Disease Control in order to take preventative measures to keep our employees and clients safe.  

• All patients and other visitors to Round Valley Indian Health Center (RVIHC) will be required to cover his or her nose and mouth with a face covering while in any RVIHC facility.
• All employees, who have patient contact, shall cover his or her nose and mouth with a medical-grade isolation or surgical mask at all times while in the facility.
• Employees who do not have direct patient contact, must either a surgical mask or cloth facial covering at all times while in the facility.
• Prior to entering any RVIHC facility, whether staff or visitor, all individuals will be screened for symptoms related to COVID-19, or other respiratory illness. This includes sore throat, coughing, and shortness of breath, fever (100.0 F) or sudden loss of sense of smell and/or taste.

This order from the Health Officer of the County of Mendocino

will become effective April 24^th at 12:01 a.m.

Update 4/10/20 - SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOL 

and COVID-19 PREVENTION

ALL EMPLOYEES and CLIENTS

• Please wear a face covering when coming to the clinic.
• Avoid entering the facility if you have a cough or fever.
• Maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another.
• Sneeze and cough into a cloth or tissue or, if not available, into one’s elbow.
• Do not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact.
• Symptom checks are being conducted before employees or clients may enter the clinic.
• All employees have been told not to come to work if sick.
• All desks or individual work stations are separated by at least six feet.
• Limit the number of clients in the waiting room, at any one time to SIX clients, which allows for clients to easily maintain at least six-foot distance from one another at all practicable times. 
• An employee is stationed at the door to ensure that the maximum number of customers in the facility set forth above is not exceeded.
• Provide for contactless payment systems or, if not feasible, sanitizing payment systems regularly. Alcohol wipes will be used to sanitize debit/credit cards and hand sanitizer is available for use after handling money.
• Hand sanitizer, soap and water, or effective disinfectant is available to the public at or near the entrance of the facility.
